Fasting… is it a Miracle Diet?

Fasting… is it a Miracle Diet?

I had this little fat kid inside of me I
like to eat big meals
hey guys welcome back to simple physique
I’m trying out a new format here not
sure if I love that whole green-screen
vibe I feel a little free this way
anyways
on with today’s subject which is
intermittent fasting there’s a good
chance you’ve probably heard about
intermittent fasting by now it’s become
very popular with those trying to lose
body fat but do the miraculous fat loss
claims hold true what are the benefits
physiologically what are the practical
benefits is it the right diet protocol
for you and if so how do you do it I’m
gonna answer all those questions right
now now let’s talk about the potential
physiological benefits if any that have
made intermittent fasting so popular
these days one of the biggest benefit to
here talked about is its ability and
promoting fat loss but the reason it’s
been known to have success in these
areas is because if its effect on
insulin sensitivity insulin is a hormone
that sends signals to the body telling
it to store glucose and fat so while
fasting your insulin levels are low this
allows the body to free up glucose and
fat stores and use them as energy as you
become accustomed to fasting other
hormones are affected as well
specifically leptin and ghrelin leptin
levels rise which sends signals to the
brain telling the body it’s full and
making you feel less hungry throughout
the day leptin is also responsible for
keeping the metabolism fire and keeping
it high both good things for burning fat
in addition to this ghrelin levels fall
so ghrelin is known as the hunger
hormone and is also responsible for
promoting fat storage with ghrelin
levels mmm the brain does not get strong
signals of hunger and the body is able
to free up those fat stores and use them
as energy also good for burning fat the
other potential benefit to fasting is
its ability to initiate a phenomenon
known as a Tov G now a toughie G is the
body’s way of cleaning out damaged cells
in order to regenerate newer healthier
cells this can have a positive effect on
immune system function and inflammation
in addition some anecdotal evidence that
I’ve experienced myself is an increase
in mental clarity and
throughout the day here’s the thing with
all these benefits I just mentioned the
methods of the studies that determine
them vary immensely with some of the
fasting times going as long as 72 hours
specifically for those etapa G benefits
also and this is very important any fat
loss studies using it and fasting
implemented a calorie deficit so keep in
mind that even if you practice
intermittent fasting a proper nutrition
program utilizing the calorie deficit
and balanced macronutrients must be in
place to see fat loss you can’t fast for
16 hours and then go eat 4,000 calories
in your 8 hour feeding window which is
possible trust me I’ve done it unless
you’re burning 5,000 calories a day
doing this will no doubt lead to fat
gain you must be in a calorie deficit to
lose body fat
whether you’re practicing in them and
fasting or not so common intimate and
fasting protocol is the 16/8 method
where you fast for 16 hours of the day
and consume your calories throughout an
eight hour feeding window so fasting you
take a little getting used to you may
have to deal with some hunger in the
beginning but your body will quickly
adjust you can also play around with the
length of your fasting and feeding
windows so if you’re new to fast you can
start with like a 12:12 protocol by
fasting and feeding for 12 hours each
alternatively if you become an
experienced faster you can increase your
fasting windows to 18 or 20 hours
sometimes even a full 24 hour fast is
practiced this is what’s known as a mat
or one meal a day now putting all the
studies and potential benefits aside
this is why I enjoy fasting and why it’s
a convenient and practical method for
myself you see I got this little fat kid
inside of me I like to eat big meals I
like to feel satiated
especially when I’m keeping my calories
on the lower side intermittent fasting
allows me to do this with a little
practice I found it quite easy to go the
first part of the day without eating I
then get to consume a large meal to
break my fast and continue my feeding
window with more moderate sized meals
and snacks or sometimes I’ll switch it
up and have my big meal at the end of
the day you might prefer to have your
big meal thin end of the day – it’s
really up to you
I just know that when in a calorie
deficit eating small meals throughout
the day can leave people constantly
craving more food making it tough to
sustain their calorie deficit this is
why I enjoy intermittent fasting and why
it’s helped me sustain and achieve my
fat loss goals any added physiological
benefits are just a bonus you may try it
and not enjoy it therefore it’s not the
protocol for you at the end of the day
if your goal is fat loss than the
nutrition protocol that helps you
sustain a calorie deficit in the long
run is the one you should be practicing
thanks for watching guys I hope you
enjoyed this video I hope you gained
something from it
hit those buttons hit that like and
subscribe button and all those things
and I’ll see you in the next one
you
